Theo, an African-American law student, needing privacy to study for the California Bar Exam during 1942, checks in at the exclusive Guardian Hotel located in downtown Los Angeles. He is assigned to “The Colored Room” a rarely used, run-down room at the back of the hotel. During his first night at the Guardian, his studies are interrupted by three diverse “denizens of the night” who seek private entry to the hotel via his window. During the course of the evening, Theo gains the “real world education” needed to prepare him for the challenges of a career as an attorney.

The Characters:

  1. Judge Purdy – a stocky intoxicated white superior court justice who hopes to catch his wife with her lover (Comedic timing is a required)
    Male White Age 50-60

  2. “Mex” – a young light-skinned African-American prostitute (a penchant for Comedy is a plus)
    Female Age 20-28 (Any ethnicity)

  3. Clodia – Judge Purdy’s matronly looking unfaithful third wife. (Catallas, a Latin poet of the Roman Republic, fell deeply in love with Clodia Metelli, a woman with a ravenous
    sexual appetite. Wikipedia)
    White Female Age 45-55

Sides will be sent upon receipt of headshots and resume.
